Get oot yer bed ya fat gypsy!

July 25, 2011

I don’t really have much to say today, so here’s a little blast from the geeky past which made me giggle again recently.

Kollektive // 1st Birthday w/ Ben UFO (Hessle Audio)

July 19, 2011

On the 12th of August my good friends from Kollektive will be putting on a wee night at the Admiral (Waterloo St, Glasgow) to celebrate their one year anniversary.  Tunes are coming out from Ben UFO as well as the standard Kollektive residents.  This should be an exciting little party and the Admiral really is a great space (I like basements with low ceilings).  I’d recommend you attend and get down.

Up All Night

July 15, 2011

Blink 182 have finally released the first single from their new album, Up All Night.  I don’t really know what I think of it yet, but on first listening I’m not that impressed.  It really seems like Tom’s the driving influence on this track at least as it’s pretty reminiscent of Boxcar Racer, Angels and Airwaves and even Blink’s I Miss You.  This isn’t really the sound that we know and love.  It makes me wonder what the die-hard fans are going to say… I know that one defence will be that they’ve grown up and the music’s matured but – in my opinion – it’s not any more mature, it’s just an overgrown emo kid who used to be fun.  I really hope that the rest of the album is a little more upbeat.

I’ll just leave this here…

I’ve been reading up on Creative Commons licensing recently after it featured in a few news stories.  I really like what they seem to be doing, having found a way for content creators to share their work online and allow bloggers (like yours truly) to share and use without relinquishing copyright for commercial purposes.  You can check out the FAQ here.  In the meantime, I’ll just leave this here (Doctor Who’s on):

The lesser evil…

July 6, 2011

It’s been a while since I posted anything on here – mainly due to the fact that the sun came out and I got massively distracted by ‘outside’ rather than sitting drooling at the screen on my laptop all day.  Anyway, since it’s now raining (in July!), I’ve found something from the interwebz which made me giggle and I thought I’d share the love.  Non-geeks need not apply.

Cthulhu for President

I’m really hoping that this meme takes off in the states and we get some genuine campaigning going on.  After all, what else is the power of the internet for?
