I still know the song and the words and her name and the reasons…

Imagine getting to play with your hero?  I love this video because you can see how much Brian Fallon is just screaming like a fanboy in his head.  You can definitely see it in his eyes, how much he dreamed of playing with Bruce.  You can almost see the teenager who used to sit in his bedroom and play Born in the USA or Dancing in the Dark, singing at the top of his voice.  I’m guessing not many people get the privilege.

If I could, I’d love to play with Joe Strummer, Henry Rollins or Frank Turner.  Henry’s only doing spoken word tours now so Frank, if you’re reading this, hit me up!

There are nights when I think Sal Paradise was right…

One Foot in the Grave

So it was my birthday yesterday, and I must confess to feeling old.  I know that, compared to the span of your average human lifespan (even in Glasgow), I’m still on the youthful end of the scale.  But that doesn’t help.  I don’t know whether this song helps or hurts, but it’s certainly all I want to listen to right now.

Check out the new album White Crosses and the whole back catalogue.  Tom Gabel is an angry, angry man who gives me hope.
