Shimmy on down to this. It’s not an option. Don’t even think about it. Just do it.

Crusades – Golden Throats teaser

April 15, 2012

These posts are getting a little bit predictable. I seriously can’t get enough of Crusades at the moment and this video should pretty much explain why.

Video filmed and edited by Jawn McClenghan. Check out Crusades on Facebook.

Crusades @ The Captain’s Rest 11/04/2012

April 9, 2012

Straight off the back of their first three gigs, Crusades have been getting a lot of awesome attention, which is well deserved. Last night their track Pseudo Andro was played on national radio by Ally McCrae on his Introducing… show. Being referred to as, “Like At The Drive In but more hardcore” is a pretty big deal.

Anyway, if you’ve been living under a rock – or in Paisley, or somewhere equally culturally deprived – and you haven’t yet heard the band, you can check out and download the track for free here.

If you’d like to see it and more like it live, you should hit up The Captain’s Rest on Wednesday night to see the boys support The Darien Venture. It’ll only cost you £4 and it should be a cosy little evening. I’ll be propping up the bar as usual, so feel free to buy me a pint.

Crusades @ Bar Bloc 21/03/12

March 4, 2012

A few of my friends have formed a band called Crusades and they’re playing their first show on the 21st of this month with Blacklisters, Shapes & Citizens at Bar Bloc. I’ll be heading along to see what kind of noise they make. You should too.

Window Shopping

March 1, 2012

There’s a small coffee shop which I pass most days on my way to and from work. It looks quite nice and, more importantly, it’s not affiliated to any of the larger chains. When my shifts are early, I often see someone waiting outside for a co-worker to show up with the keys, and if I’m passing slightly later, there can already be two old gents sat outside, passing the time of day. I’ve never been in, but it’s been on my to-do list for a while.

Last night, when I was walking home from work, the shop was closed but the lights were still on. This isn’t unusual for the time of day. There were two employees left in the shop – a man in a shirt and a girl in a summer dress. The man had one arm around the girl’s waist and was counting out the beat with the other. They turned on four and clasped hands. It only took a second to realise that he was teaching her to dance. I don’t know why this was, I don’t know why there, but it was like something from a bad American movie.

All I know is, just like a bad American romance, there was something feel-good about the scene. I walked the rest of the way home smiling.

I’d forgotten about this song until my friend Lesley posted it on Facebook this week. Something Mark showed me over a year go, this track – by some fellow Glaswegians – has the best chorus/outro I’ve heard in a long time. It’s pretty good.

Big congratulations to my friends over at Mia Dora for this remix. Giles Peterson picked up on it and Rob da Bank followed up on Radio 1. It’s since done the rounds on blogs, Capital FM and Mary Ann Hobbs got in on the game for XFM. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come and we’ll see a lot more from the pair. Enjoy.

I’m hoping we might see some other Glasgow DJs spin this in their honour in the next couple weeks. We all love it when some local boys do good.

I’m the first to admit, I know fuck all about wrestling. It’s not my thing and I don’t think it ever will be. But I happen to have the best friends in the world and we know how to throw a party. I won’t bore you with the details, luckily, Ian’s made us a video. Lest we forget.

Apparently, due to the fact that wordpress and Facebook don’t seem to compute, you’ll have to follow this link below to see the carnage that was only the build up to the night. If anyone can let me know how to embed it into this post, please get in touch.

In the meantime, here’s a picture of me in my costume, in a bath in a hotel room on the Saturday night – before we went out:

I have no recollection of this being taken.

Say what you like about us, we know how to have a good time. I didn’t get out of bed for two and a half days after Espookio.
